Timing Cover: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect battery ground cable and drain cooling system, then remove water pump as outlined under "Water Pump, Replace."
2. Remove power steering pump, then the crankshaft pulley.
3. Remove crankshaft damper as outlined under "Crankshaft Damper, Replace."
4. Remove fuel lines, then remove front oil pan bolt on each side of engine.
5. Remove timing chain cover. Ensure care is taken not to damage oil pan gasket.
6. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Apply a small amount of suitable silicone rubber adhesive sealant to joint between cover gasket and oil pan gasket.
b. Tighten bolts to specifications.
