Premature Rust - Chrome Wheels

MODELS:

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Wheels may show signs of rust on the exterior chrome surface.

DIAGNOSIS:

Inspect the wheels. If rust is present on the exterior chrome surface, replace the wheels.

NOTE:

THE CURRENT WHEELS WERE MANUFACTURED WITH AN IMPROVED CHROME PLATING PROCESS. THIS PROCESS WAS
IMPLEMENTED 1/1/94. ALL PARTS DEPOT STOCK HAVE BEEN INSPECTED AND CONTAINS THE UPDATED WHEELS. CHECK THE
MANUFACTURERS BUILD DATE TO VERIFY THAT THE REPLACEMENT WHEELS WERE MANUFACTURED AFTER 1/1/94. THE
WHEELS ARE SHIPPED WITH A WHITE LABEL ON THE INSIDE OF THE WHEEL WHICH CONTAINS THE MANUFACTURE DATE.
THE STICKER SHOULD READ 1/1/94 OR LATER. ANY WHEELS DATED PRIOR TO 1/1/94 SHOULD BE RETURNED FOR CREDIT.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves replacing the chrome wheels with wheels containing an improved chrome plating.

1.

Remove the wheel and tires from the vehicle.

2.

Remove the tires from the wheels.

3.

Mount the tires on the new wheels.

4.

Balance the tire and wheel assemblies.

5.

Install the assemblies on the vehicle and tighten the lug nuts as follows:

5 stud - 130 N-m (95 ft.lbs.) 
8 stud - 180 N-m (135 ft.lbs.)

POLICY: Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty.
