Assembly, Shift Lever Tower (AN)

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves the replacement of the shift lever tower assembly.

1.

Shift the transmission into Neutral.

2.

Remove shift boot bezel screws and slide the boot upward on the shift lever extension.

3.

Remove the shift lever extension from the shift lever tower assembly.

4.

Remove the shift tower attaching bolts and remove the shift lever tower assembly (Refer to Figure 2).

5.

Clean transmission housing and isolator plate assembly surfaces. Apply Mopar RTV sealant, P/N 82300234, to the lower (metal) surface of the
isolator plate and the mating surface of the transmission.

6.

Shift the transmission into 3rd or 4th gear.

7.

Install the appropriate replacement shift lever tower assembly and tighten attaching bolts to 7 - 10 N-m or (5 - 7 ft.lbs).

8.

Install the shift lever extension to the tower assembly.

9.

Install shift boot bezel.
