Remove only the inner shock absorber bracket mounting nuts on both coil spring towers (Figure 1).

Raise the vehicle on an appropriate hoist.
5.
Remove both front wheel and tire assemblies.
6.
On 4WD trucks:
a.
Disconnect the axle vent hose at the frame.
b.
Disconnect the vacuum hoses and electrical connector at the disconnect housing.
c.
Mark the driveshaft yoke and differential pinion yoke (Figure 2).
d.
Disconnect the driveshaft from the differential yoke.
e.
Use a plastic tie strap or equivalent to support the differential end of the driveshaft.
