Vacuum Pump: Service and Repair
VACUUM PUMP REPLACE
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove vacuum and steering pump hoses from respective pumps.
3. Disconnect oil pressure sender wires, then remove sender.
4. Remove lubricating oil feed line from vacuum pump.
5. Remove pump retaining bolts and nuts, then the pump.
6. Remove nuts securing vacuum pump to adapter, then the vacuum pump from adapter.
7. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Inspect adapter O-ring and replace if necessary.
b. Lubricate adapter O-ring with engine oil.

c. Ensure tangs are aligned by rotating drive gears.
d. Torque pump attaching bolts to 57 ft. lbs. and nut to 18 ft. lbs.
VACUUM PUMP SERVICE
Vacuum pumps on these models are not serviceable. The pump must be replaced as an assembly.
