Self Adjuster Lever Assembly.
a. Position center portion of adjuster lever into a suitable vise.
b. Position adjuster spring retainer into lever. A clamp or locking pliers may be used to hold retainer in place during spring installation.
c. Using a suitable spring tool install retainer spring.
6. Attach secondary shoe assembly to backing plate using hold-down pin, spring and retainer.
7. Install adjuster lever spring between shoe and lever. Ensure spring is installed over adjuster lever tang.
8. Attach long end of shoe spring to secondary brake shoe.
9. Install oval anti rattle spring onto parking brake strut, then slide non spring end of strut onto secondary brake shoe and spring end onto primary
brake shoe.
10. Attach primary shoe assembly to backing plate using hold-down pin, spring and retainer.
11. Install adjuster screw assembly, star wheel end towards secondary shoe.
12. Attach shoe spring to primary shoe using a suitable brake spring tool.
13. Install brake shoe guide plate onto anchor pin of backing plate.
14. Attach self adjuster lever spring to self adjuster lever, install secondary brake shoe return spring to shoe and adjuster lever spring, then using a
suitable brake spring tool assemble onto anchor pin.
15. Install primary brake shoe return spring to shoe and anchor pin.
16. Using a suitable brake adjustment gauge, adjust brake shoes.
17. Install brake drum and wheels, then tighten wheel lug nuts to specifications.
