1.
Install the right and left side coil spring tower stud plate and rubber spring pad.
2.
Install both coil springs onto the axle spring brackets.
3.
Lower the truck and install the right and left shock absorber and bracket assemblies into position. Tighten the three bracket nuts to 55 ft. lbs. (75
Nm) (Figure 1).
4.
Raise the truck on the hoist.
5.
Raise the axle into position with a hydraulic jack while aligning the coil springs onto the rubber spring pads.
6.
Install the track bar to the axle bracket and install bolt. Do not tighten the bolt at this time (Figure 4).
CAUTION:
The front coil springs must be supporting the full weight of the vehicle when the track bar bolt is tightened or premature bushing wear may occur.
7.
Install the right and left lower shock absorber bolts. Tighten the mounting bolts to 100 ft. lbs. (136 Nm) (Figure 16).
8.
On 4WD trucks:
a.
Attach the vent hose to the frame clip.
b.
Attach the vacuum hose and electrical connector to the axle disconnect housing.
c.
Align the reference marks and install the driveshaft to the front differential yoke. Tighten the U-joint clamp bolts to 14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm).
9.
Connect the right and left side brake hose brackets (Figure 3).
10.
Install the right and left side wheelhouse liners using new plastic rivets if necessary (Figure 5).
11.
Install the right and left wheel and tire assemblies.

On 2500 series trucks, tighten the lug nuts to 135 ft. lbs. (180 Nm).

On 3500 series trucks, tighten the lug nuts to 145 ft. lbs. (195 Nm).
12.
Remove the hydraulic jack and lower the truck.
13.
With the full weight of the truck on the suspension, tighten the track bar bolt at the axle bracket to 130 ft. lbs. (176 Nm) (Figure 4).
14.
Install the steering coupler onto the column. Tighten the coupler retaining bolt to 36 ft. lbs. (49 Nm), if removed (Figure 8).
15.
On diesel equipped trucks, install the intercooler outlet hose (Figure 7), if removed.
16.
On V-10 equipped trucks, install the air cleaner assembly fresh air tube, if removed.
17.
On diesel equipped trucks, install the air cleaner assembly.
