Obtain Remover/Installer Tool 6783.

NOTE:

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SEAT THE SHIFT LEVER WITH ANY OTHER TOOL (HAMMER) AS DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION MAY
OCCUR.

2.

With the upper shift boot removed, position the upper jaw of the Remover/Installer Tool 6783 above the flange on the shift lever.

3.

Tighten the tool screw to press the shift lever onto the transmission stub shaft. Press the shift lever onto the stub shaft until a 3 - 5 mm (0.120 -
0.200 in.) space is achieved between the bottom of the shift lever rubber isolator and the top edge of the stub shaft tool groove.

4.

Remove the special installation tool and reinstall the shift boot.
