Hold stub shaft with Tool SP3616 (Figure 8) and torque lock nut as shown in Figure 1 or Figure 2.

Install pinion dust cover or bearing cap as shown in Figure 1 or Figure 2.

Lubricate shaft and seal area (externally with Mopar Multi-Purpose Lube, PN 2932524, or equivalent to prevent corrosion on shaft (Figure 15).
O.
Install steering column and related parts, reversing the removal procedures.
P.
Fill and operate system to verify that oil leak is corrected.
II - Valve & Pinion Assembly Information
II
VALVE & PINION ASSEMBLY OR LOWER SEAL REPLACEMENT
The following procedures should be followed when valve and pinion assembly, valve body rings, or lower pinion seal replacement is required.
Loosening of the rack bearing (yoke) adjuster will allow easier removal and installation of the valve and pinion assembly by relieving the spring pressure
on the rack. Be sure to properly adjust the rack bearing (yoke) after installing the valve and pinion. Refer to service manual for proper adjustment
specifications.
A.
Perform pinion stub shaft seal removal operations as shown in this bulletin.
B.
After the stub shaft seals have been removed, carefully push in the valve and pinion until it is firmly seated in the housing.
C.
Position the front wheels in the straight ahead position.
D.
Mark location of stub shaft flat (master spline) on the pinion housing. This must be done for line-up purposes when reinstalling pinion.
