If the pinion lower seal requires replacement, remove the lower seal using Tool C-4694 (Figure 12). Install the tool into the housing only
deep enough to spread the puller into the lower side of the seal lip. If the puller is installed too deep it will not retain the seal for easy
removal.

Remove upper pinion (plastic) bushing with screwdriver or wire. It will slide out the top easily.

Install new bushing and seal using Special Tool L- 4597 (Figure 13). Seat the seal in housing with seal lip facing up.

Lubricate the pinion housing and carefully install the valve and pinion assembly (Figure 10). Tool C-4790 should remain on the assembly
