Install new upper spring seat with damper assembly (Figure 1).

Reinstall strut assembly. Refer to Figure 2 for proper spring upper seat alignment to strut.

Return camber and toe to their original settings using "C" clamp to realign previously made marks on camber bolt and strut. Then torque the
retaining bolts. Front end alignment is not required for this operation.

Refer to Technical Service Bulletin #02-08-82 for correcting strut chuckle noise on 1981 and 1982 models.

The new spring seat and damper assembly entered production on the 1983 "E" body vehicles approximately February 15, 1983.
