SYMPTOM/CONDITION

A condition of an off idle hesitation may occur during rapid "wide open throttle" acceleration from rest with a warm engine. This condition is worse with
the air conditioning on and in ambients above 85~ F.

DIAGNOSIS

Thorough diagnosis should be performed using the Driveability Test Procedure. If no problem is found, it will be necessary to disconnect accelerator
pump to properly diagnose problem. The accelerator pump will only be disconnected for diagnosis and must be reconnected before continuing with this
procedure. Disconnect accelerator pump by removing the pump cover attaching screws; remove pump assembly and take out accelerator pump spring.
Reinstall pump without spring and tighten screws. Road test vehicle. If the hesitation is reduced, continue with procedure.

CAUTION:

BE SURE TO REINSTALL ACCELERATOR PUMP SPRING.
