NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES BUILT PRIOR TO JUNE 12, 1995 (MDH 06-12-XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
If the brake light switch is misadjusted, the brake pedal may be applied slightly even though the pedal is not depressed. This can cause front brake pad
wear. Brake shudder or noise may also occur.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves adjusting the stop lamp switch.
1.
Measure the distance between the brake switch outer case and pedal stopper (Figure 1).
2.
If the clearance is not within specifications, proceed with the adjustment procedure.
3.
Disconnect the brake switch connector, and loosen the lock nut.
4.
Move the switch so the distance between the pedal stopper and outer case is between .5 - 1.0 mm (.020 - .040 in.).
5.
Tighten the lock nut. Re-check clearance after tightening.
6.
Re-connect the brake switch connector.
7.
Check stop light operation. Make sure the brake lights are not illuminated with the brake pedal released.
