Avenger L4-2.0L DOHC (1995)
1.
Disconnect the Air Shut Off Valve (ASOV) electrical connector (Figure 2).
2.
Disconnect the ASOV vacuum hose (Figure 2).
3.
Disconnect the aspirator system hose from the air cleaner assembly (Figure 2).
4.
Remove the aspirator system hose from the aspirator valve and then discard the ASOV and hoses (Figure 2).
5.
Using two wrenches, one on the aspirator tube and the other on the aspirator valve, remove and discard the aspirator valve (Figure 2).
6.
Clean the aspirator tube threads and remove any excessive rust in the aspirator tube.
7.
Install the supplied threaded aspirator cap on the aspirator tube and tighten securely.
8.
Clean any debris from the air cleaner assembly aspirator hose nipple.
9.
Install the supplied rubber cap on the air cleaner aspirator hose nipple.
10.
Clean any dirt or corrosion from the electrical connector that was attached to the ASOV and then install the supplied wiring connector plug on the
connector. Tape the connector back to the main engine wiring harness.
11.
Locate the vacuum harness that connects to the ASOV and the EGR transducer. Cut the rubber connector out of the harness that splits the vacuum
to the ASOV and EGR transducer. Remove and discard the ASOV vacuum hose.
12.
Install the supplied rubber vacuum hose connector to connect the EGR transducer vacuum hose to the main vacuum hose.
13.
Connect the negative battery terminal.
14.
Start the engine and verify that there are no fuel leaks at the pressure regulator or exhaust leaks at the aspirator cap.
C. Reprogram the PCM
1.
Inspect the PCM barcode label and record the PCM part number.

If the PCM part number is 05293318, 05293319, 04796363, 04796364, 05293321, 05293322 or 05269641, the PCM can NOT be
reprogrammed and must be replaced. Continue with Section E -- Replace PCM.

If the part number is not one of the above listed numbers or if the barcode label is missing or illegible, continue with Step 2.
2.
Connect the MDS (Mopar Diagnostic System) and the DRB III(R) (Scan Tool) to the vehicle and power them up.
NOTE:
The Mopar Diagnostic System is required to perform the PCM flash. The system must be operating with RELEASE 21 or higher and TIL CD
RELEASE 1169 or higher must be installed.
3.
Use the arrow keys and select # 2 -- MDS DIAGNOSTICS on the DRB III MAIN MENU Screen.
4.
Use the arrow keys and select DIAGNOSTICS MENU on the MDS, then press NEXT MENU.
5.
Use the arrow keys and select VEHICLE CONTROLLER PROGRAMMING on the MDS, then press NEXT MENU.
6.
Use the arrow keys and select PROGRAMMING OF ALL OTHER CONTROLLERS USING MDS & DRB III on the MDS, then press NEXT
