Audible Warning Device: Component Tests and General Diagnostics
Chime/Buzzer - Brake/Park Brake Indicator
BRAKE/PARK BRAKE INDICATOR
The brake/park brake indicator illuminates when the parking brake is applied with the ignition switch turned to the ON position (Refer to the PARK
BRAKE SWITCH TEST table. The same lamp will also illuminate if one of the two (hydraulic or ABS) service brake systems fail when the brake
pedal is applied.
PARK BRAKE SWITCH TEST
TO TEST THE SYSTEM:

As the ignition switch is turned to the START position, the lamp should light.

Turn ignition switch to the ON position and apply the parking brake. The lamp should light.
IF LAMPS FAILS TO LIGHT, INSPECT FOR:
-
A broken or disconnected wire at the switch
-
Defective switch
-
A burned out Light Emitting Diode (LED)
-
A damaged circuit board

Chime/Buzzer - Fasten Seat Belts
FASTEN SEAT BELTS
To test the seat belt reminder function, perform the following:
With the drivers seat belt unbuckled and fully retracted, turn the ignition to the ON position. The seat belt warning light will flash 4 - 8 times and the
chime will sound 3 - 5 seconds, then remain lit. If the seat belt is not fastened, and the vehicle reaches a speed of 5 - 10 mph ( 8 - 16 kmh ), the indicator
light will flash 4 - 8 times and then remain lit while the chime sounds for 3 - 5 seconds. This will continue until the seatbelt is pulled from the retractor.
If the lamp does not light, verify the seat belt reminder function is enabled, See: Seat Belt Reminder Lamp/Testing and Inspection for more information.
If the reminder function is enabled, check the connection at the seat belt retractor. Replace as necessary.
