Air Duct: Service and Repair
Defroster Ducts - Removal
REMOVAL
WARNING: Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, or instrument panel component diagnosis or
service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before
performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to take the proper precautions could
result in accidental airbag deployment and possible personal injury or death.
NOTE: Take the proper precautions to protect the front face of the instrument panel from cosmetic damage while performing this procedure.
NOTE: LHD Chrysler model shown. Dodge and RHD models similar.
1. Remove the instrument panel and place it on a workbench See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard / Instrument Panel/Service
and Repair/Instrument Panel - Removal.
2. Remove the left and right instrument panel air outlets See: Air Register/Service and Repair/Air Outlets - Removal.
3. Remove the outer instrument panel ducts See: Instrument Panel Ducts - Removal.
4. Remove the instrument panel top pad See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard / Instrument Panel/Service and Repair/Instrument
Panel Pad - Removal.
5. Remove the demister ducts See: Instrument Panel Demister Ducts - Removal.
6. Remove the three screws (3) that secure the defroster duct (1) to the instrument panel top cover (2).
7. Slide the defroster duct forward to disengage it from the instrument panel top cover and remove the duct.
