OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves replacing the 3rd/4th/5th & Reverse gear synchronizer (blocker) rings together as a set if a de-bonding condition is found.

NOTE:

This information applies to PM/MK models built prior to February 2, 2008 (MDH0202XX) and JS models built prior to January 18, 2008
(MDH0118XX) equipped with T355 Manual Transmission (Sales Code DD7).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Some customers may experience gear clash or difficulty shifting. This may be experienced in 3rd gear, 4th gear, 5th gear or Reverse.

DISCUSSION:

The friction material that is attached to the inner side of the synchronizer (blocker) ring may de-bond from the ring. When repairing a vehicle due to this
Symptom/Condition, closely inspect the synchronizer (blocker) ring for friction material de-bonding. The inner surface may appear smooth or sections of
the friction material may be missing. If this de-bonding condition is found, ALL blocker rings (3rd, 4th, 5th, and Reverse) must be replaced. Also,
inspect the gear clutching teeth and the sleeve teeth for any damage. If the teeth are damaged, those components will require replacement as well.

If a transmission has been opened for any other service, inspect the serial number on the bar code label which is located on the top of the bell housing. If
a date range between TTU2537XXXX (9/10/07) to TTU339701736 (12/5/07) is found, replace the 3rd, 4th, 5th, & Reverse blocker ring regardless of its
condition.

NOTE:

Closely inspect the Input and Output shaft oil galleys for friction material debris. Clean these thoroughly before reassembly.
