TRANSVERSE BRAKE BOOSTER.
SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Speed control inoperative and/or brake lamps stay on after brake pedal is released.
DIAGNOSIS
Verify that vehicle is equipped with a transverse brake booster and the brake lamp switch is of the self-adjusting type (PN 4360148).

REPAIR PROCEDURE
This repair involves the installation of a new, manually adjusted bracket lamp switch and bracket.
1.
Remove the existing brake lamp switch, retaining clip, and bracket.
2.
Install the new brake lamp switch, PN 4221980; bracket, PN 4169578; and nut, PN 0107825.
3.
Adjust the brake lamp switch as outlined on page 5-4 of the 1987 Rear Wheel Drive Van/Wagon Service Manual, publication #81-370-7007.
