SYMPTOM/CONDITION

A sliding side door that will not open on subject model vehicles may be the result of an unusual latch operating circumstance that can cause the latch
assembly to jam.

If the door is locked, and someone attempts to open it from the outside while another person on the inside simultaneously attempts to raise the lock
button, the latch could jam in the closed position. In some cases, the lock link tab might also be broken off.

If the handle has not been forced excessively, the door may be opened by depressing the lock button with the handle in the open position. This should
free the mechanism to allow the latch to open.

PARTS REQUIRED

1 Latch Assembly

PN 4354039

NOTE:

CURRENT LATCHES FROM THE PARTS DIVISION CONTAIN MODIFICATIONS TO PREVENT THE POTENTIAL
JAMMING CONDITION.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

This procedure outlines replacing the latch assembly.

1.

Remove interior trim panel of sliding side door (see appropriate service manual).

2.

Remove latch remote locking control assembly (see appropriate service manual).

3.

Replace latch assembly with PN 4354039.

4.

Reinstall and adjust latch remote locking control assembly (see appropriate service manual).

5.

Verify proper operation.

6.

Reinstall interior trim panel.
