Break In Of "New" Engine               

- Degrease, clean and reinstall the plugs.

Excessive Valve Guide Clearance          

- Repair engine as necessary.

Worn Valve Seals               

- Replace seals.

White or Gray - Burned or Blistered Insulator

DESCRIPTION:

Burned or blistered insulator tips and badly eroded electrodes. 

POSSIBLE CAUSE                           

ACTION

Overheating               

- Check the cooling system.

                                     

- Check for sticking heat riser valves.

                                     

- Check for lean air-fuel mixture

                                     

- Check the heat range of plugs. May be too hot.

                                     

- Check spark timing. May be too advanced.

 
                                      

- Check the torque value of the plugs to ensure good plug-engine seat contact.
