Governor: Service and Repair

    On 4WD models it may be necessary to remove transfer case. 

1.

Remove extension housing.

2.

Using a small screwdriver, carefully pry snap ring from weight end of governor valve shaft. Slide valve and shaft out of governor housing.

3.

Remove large snap ring from weight end of governor housing and lift out weight assembly.

4.

Remove snap ring from inside governor weight and remove inner weight and spring from out weight.

5.

Remove snap ring from behind governor housing, then slide housing and parking brake sprag assembly off input shaft. If necessary, separate
governor housing from sprag (four screws).
