Service Procedure
SERVICE PROCEDURE VIDEOTAPE
As an additional service aid, refer to the Paint Delamination Repair videotape which was distributed with the January, 1994 Master Tech program.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Wash vehicle with soap and water. Wipe dry.
2.
Clean vehicle with appropriate wax and grease remover (such as PPG DX330).
3.
Remove top coat down to primer on entire vehicle, saving as much of the primer (E-coat) as possible. Do not use chemical strippers.
NOTE:
If the turquoise paint has been covered with a second color (two tone), the two tone color area does not require refinishing. The second color will
protect against UV penetration.
4.
Blow off and clean with wax and grease remover. Mask off as necessary.
5.
Seal any areas where all primer has been removed with an anti-corrosion 2K primer (such as PPG DP Epoxy Primer).
6.
If the surface is uneven, apply a 2K surfacer primer.
7.
Block sand with 400-600 grit sand paper and clean again with wax and grease remover.
8.
Apply 2-3 coats of a single stage top color coat (such as PPG Deltron Concept Color).
NOTE:
Epoxy primers are sensitive to UV light. Make sure there is enough top coat to protect them (approximately 2 mil film build).
IMPORTANT:
Do not mix different paint manufacturer's materials. Read all safety data for the materials being used.
