Spare Tire Carrier Rattle

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Rattle coming from spare tire carrier while driving over rough roads.
DIAGNOSIS:
Road test vehicle. If the rattle from the tire area is present, perform the repair procedure.

Spare Tire Carrier Retainer
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves installing a retainer to the spare tire carrier assembly.
1.
Remove the spare tire from the bracket.
2.
Position the spare tire so that the retaining bolt is centered in the pilot hole in the center of the wheel.
3.
Install the retainer with the slot pointing downward. The retainer has dual pilots for 15" and 16" wheels.
4.
Install and hand tighten the wing nut.
