Throttle Position Sensor: Service and Repair
Throttle Body
REMOVAL
1.
Remove air cleaner.
2.
Disconnect 3-way connector at throttle position sensor.
3.
Remove screws mounting throttle position sensor to throttle body.
4.
Lift throttle position sensor off the throttle shaft.
INSTALLATION
NOTE: The throttle-shaft-end slides into a socket in the TPS. The TPS must be installed with the electrical connection pointing up. When
installed correctly, the sensor can be rotated a few degrees to align the screw holes with the mounting holes in the throttle body. If the sensor will
not rotate, install the sensor with the throttle shaft on the other side of the socket tangs. The TPS will be under slight tension when rotated.
1.
Install the throttle position sensor and retaining screws.
2.
Tighten mounting screws to 3 Nm (27 in. lbs.) torque.
3.
Connect TPS electrical connector to TPS.
4.
Install air cleaner.
