Wheel Speed Sensor: Service and Repair
Rear

1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
2. Remove sensor wiring grommet retainer bracket, then pull sensor grommet from underbody.
3. Disconnect electrical connector, then remove wiring to frame rail attaching bracket.
4. Remove two bolts attaching sensor assembly bracket to rear axle, the the sensor assembly bracket.
5. Remove sensor head screw, then the sensor head from steering knuckle. If sensor head is seized, use a punch and gently rock sensor back and

forth until free. Do not use pliers on sensor head.

6. Reverse procedure to install. Torque sensor mounting bolt to 60 inch lbs., frame rail bracket to frame to 50 inch lbs. and sensor bracket bolts to 

145 inch lbs. Coat sensor with high temperature E. P. grease.
