Starter Motor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

-

Release hood latch and open hood.

Battery Negative Cable

-

Disconnect battery negative cable.

-

Hoist and support vehicle on safety stands.

-

Disconnect solenoid wire connector from terminal.

-

Remove nut holding B+ wire to terminal.

-

Disconnect solenoid and B+ wires from starter terminals.

Starter

-

Remove bolts holding starter to transaxle bellhousing.

-

Remove starter.

INSTALLATION

-

Place starter in position on vehicle.

-

Install bolts to hold starter to transaxle bellhousing.

-

Place solenoid and B+ wires in position on starter terminals.

-

Install nut to hold B+ wire to terminal.

-

Connect solenoid wire connector onto terminal.

-

Lower vehicle.

-

Connect battery negative cable.

-

Verify starter operation.
