THIS BULLETIN SUPERSEDES TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 23-20-96, DATED MAR. 29, 1996, WHICH SHOULD BE REMOVED
FROM YOUR FILES AND NOTED IN THE 1996 TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN MANUAL (PUBLICATION NO. 81-699-97010).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Unusually high effort is required to unlatch the rear 2 and/or 3 passenger bench seat(s) from the floor when removal of the seat(s) is necessary.
THIS CONDITION DOES NOT AFFECT THE ABILITY TO LATCH THE SEATS TO THE FLOOR WHEN RE-INSTALLING THEM.
DIAGNOSIS:
Remove the bench seat(s) that is unusually difficult to unlatch from the floor. Visually inspect the fit of the rear seat floor latch striker
cover(s)/escutcheon(s) to the striker. The cutouts in the cover(s) for the strikers should be centered over the strikers. If not, an interference will occur
between the front or rear of the striker and the cover(s). Perform the Repair Procedure on the cover(s) that are not centered or that have interference with
the striker (refer to illustration, interference shown at the front of the striker, interference can exist at the rear of the striker).
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves removing material from the rear seat floor latch striker cover(s) to eliminate interference between the cover(s) and rear bench seat
floor latch strikers
1.
Remove the screws attaching the effected rear seat floor latch striker cover(s) to the floor.
2.
Using an appropriate tool, remove approximately 3 mm (1/8 in.) material from the rear seat floor latch striker cover(s) at the point of interference
with the seat floor latch striker.
3.
Install the cover(s) to the floor. If front or rear interference still exists between the cover(s) and striker(s), repeat steps 1 and 2.
4.
Latch the rear bench seat(s) to the floor.
