8. Using Mopar Brake Parts Cleaner (or equivalent) and compressed air, clean the area where the power steering pressure and return hose tube nuts
screw into the steering gear.
CAUTION:
Failure to clean the area around the power steering hose tube nuts at the steering gear before disassembly could allow dirt to enter the power steering
hydraulic system during power steering pressure hose replacement.
9. Unscrew the tube nut at the steering gear and then remove the return hose from the steering gear.
10. Unscrew the tube nut at the steering gear and then remove the power steering pressure hose from the steering gear (Figure 8).
11. Remove the screws securing the power steering pressure hose routing clamps to the rear of the front suspension crossmember.
12. Remove and discard the power steering pressure hose from the vehicle.
13. Lubricate the rubber O-rings on each end of the new power steering pressure hose with clean power steering fluid.
14. Place the new power steering pressure hose into position and install the bolts for the hose routing clamps, hand tighten.
15. Install the power steering pressure hose tube at the steering gear. Tighten the tube to nut to 24 ft.lbs. (32 N.m).
16. Install the original return hose tube at the steering gear.
Tighten the tube nut to 24 ft. lbs. (32 N.m).
17. Install the power steering pressure hose at the power steering pump pressure port. Tighten the tube nut to 24 ft. lbs. (32 N.m).
18. Install the return hose at the return tube. Place the spring clamp into position. If a screw clamp is used, tighten it to 20 in. lbs. (2.5 N.m).
