Failure to clean the area around the power steering pump tube nut and low pressure supply elbow at the power steering pump could allow dirt to enter
the power steering hydraulic system during power steering pressure hose replacement.
5. Unthread the tube nut at the power steering pump and disconnect the power steering pressure hose (Figure 21).
6. Raise the vehicle on an appropriate hoist.
7. Remove the plastic underbody shield to gain access to the power steering pressure hose.
8.Remove the screw securing the pressure hose routing clamp to the front of the engine cradle.
9. Remove the screw fastening routing clamps securing the power steering pressure and return hoses to the right side of the engine cradle.
10. Using Mopar Brake Parts Cleaner (or equivalent) and compressed air, clean the area where the power steering pressure and return hose tube nuts
screw into the steering gear.
CAUTION:
Failure to clean the area around the power steering hose tube nuts at the steering gear before disassembly could allow dirt to enter the power steering
hydraulic system during power steering pressure hose replacement.
11. Unthread the power steering pressure hose tube nut from the steering gear (Figure 22).
12. Lower the vehicle from the hoist.
13. Remove and discard the power steering pressure hose from the vehicle.
