Challenger V8-5.7L (2010)
19. Tighten the two power steering pressure hose routing clamp bolts at the rear of the crossmember to 71 in. lbs. (8 N.m) (Figure 9).
20. Use Mopar Brake Clean (or equivalent) and compressed air, clean off any residual power steering fluid that may have spilled onto the front
suspension crossmember.
21. Lower the vehicle from the hoist. 22. Continue with Section I. Fill and Bleed the Power Steering Hydraulic System.
CAUTION:
If the air is not purged from the power steering system correctly, power steering pump failure could result.
D. Replace Power Steering Pressure Hose (JC/JS Models W/3.5L Engine)
NOTE:
The following procedure is required if the power steering pressure hose required replacement per the inspection in Section "A."
1. Open the hood and remove the power steering reservoir cap.
2. Using a suction gun, siphon as much fluid as possible from the power steering fluid reservoir.
3. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
4. Using Mopar Brake Parts Cleaner (or equivalent) and compressed air, clean the area where the power steering pressure and return hose tube nuts
screw into the steering gear (Figure 10).
CAUTION:
Failure to clean the area around the power steering hose tube nuts at the steering gear before disassembly could allow dirt to enter the power steering
hydraulic system during power steering pressure hose replacement.
5. Unscrew the tube nut at the steering gear and then remove the power steering pressure hose from the steering gear (Figure 10).
