1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Set temperature lever at the extreme hot position, then drain engine coolant.
3. Remove steering wheel using suitable puller.
4. Remove glove compartment, ashtray lap heater duct or steering column lower trim and parcel tray (if equipped).
5. Remove steering column lower cover, then disconnect light switch and wiper switch wiring connectors.
6. Remove steering column upper cover.
7. Remove cluster bezel attaching screws, then the bezel, Figs. 12 and 13.
8. Remove instrument cluster attaching screws, then tilt cluster outwards and disconnect speedometer cable and electrical connectors.
9. Remove instrument cluster, then the steering column bracket.
10. Remove upper left hand side instrument corner panel.
11. Working from the back side of the heater control panel, push the right side control panel clip to the right while pushing control panel out of
instrument panel. Allow control panel to hang.
12. Remove heater control panel mounting screws.
13. Remove instrument panel pad.
14. Remove instrument panel attaching bolts, then the instrument panel assembly. On some models it may be necessary to remove center console.
