Ball Joint: Service and Repair
LOWER BALL JOINT
With load removed from lower ball joint, check starting torque with inch lb. wrench. If starting torque is not 21.7-86.8 inch lbs., replace lower control
arm and ball joint as an assembly.

1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. On 1988 models, remove center member. On all models, remove chassis under cover, then disconnect stabilizer bar from lower control arm.
3. Disconnect ball joint from steering knuckle.
