SYMPTOM/CONDITION
A cold weather squawk (low pitched squeak) may occur at the sway bar mounting cushion(s) and bushing(s) in ambient temperatures below 32~F.
DIAGNOSIS
A sway bar squawk, if evident, will occur when the vehicle is bounced up and down, such as when hitting dips, speed bumps, etc. As the suspension
moves through jounce and rebound, the sway bar turns in the crossmember cushions and outer bushings resulting in a noise.
Diagnosis should be performed while the vehicle is cold by bouncing the front end. If the vehicle is parked inside of a heated area for a short period of
time the noise will not occur.
PARTS REQUIRED
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Remove the sway bar following the service manual procedure.
2.
Remove the sway bar cushions and end bushings.
3.
Clean the cushion and bushing contact surfaces on the sway bar.
