Pulse Damper: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1.  Reduce the internal pressure of the fuel pipes and hoses by completing the following operations:

a.

Remove the rear seat cushion and carpet.  Disconnect the fuel pump harness connector.

b.

Start and run the engine until it stalls, then turn the ignition switch to OFF.

c.

Disconnect the battery negative terminal.

d.

Connect the fuel pump harness connector.

2.

Remove the two pulsation damper mounting screws, and carefully remove the damper, discarding the damper O-ring.

3.

Carefully remove the diaphragm from the injector holder housing, and inspect for wear or defects.  Discard the diaphragm if necessary.

INSTALLATION

1.

Install the damper diaphragm in the correct position, install the spring, and damper cover with a new O-ring.

2.

Tighten the damper mounting screws alternately, until secure.  START the engine and inspect for leaks.
