Reconnect the exhaust oxygen sensor.

Reset the engine idle speed to specs if necessary.

Run the engine at 2500 RPM in neutral for 30 seconds and then record the tailpipe CO reading at 2500 RPM.

If the CO reading is 1.2% or less move to step 18. If the CO reading is still greater than 1.2%, the carburetor must be replaced at this time. Skip step
18.
Turn off the engine, disconnect the tachometer and remove the analyzer probe from the tailpipe.
19.
Install the concealment plug into the hole to seal access to the idle mixture adjustment screw.
20.
Reinstall the air cleaner assembly.
21.
Move to Section L.

Replace Carburetor (Only For Continued High CO Level after Idle Speed and Mixture Adjustment)
1.
Replace the carburetor per Service Manual Procedure using carburetor Part No. MD997198 - Colt Vista 4WD w/Manual Transmission.
NOTE:
Do not install a Choke Shim on the new Carburetor.
2.
Important:
Transfer the primary air bleed jet previously installed in the old carburetor to the new carburetor, following the procedure in Section D.
3.
Check and adjust idle speeds as required.
4.
Disconnect the tachometer and remove the analyzer probe from the tailpipe.
5.
Reinstall the air cleaner assembly.

1.
Inspect the underside of the hood for the proper hose routing label, (Part No. MD164142).
2.
If the proper label is missing, install one as follows:
a.
Remove all dirt from the old label.
b.
Peel the new label from its backing and install it covering the old label.

If the battery negative cable was disconnected in Step J-8, reset the radio to the presets recorded earlier.
