Colt Vista 2WD L4-1997cc 2.0L SOHC (1985)
2. Remove air hose clip, then the air hose.
3. Remove bellows band, then the bellows clip.
4. Pull bellows outward, then unstake tab washer from tie rod and rack.
5. Remove tie rod and rack, then the rack support cover locknut.

6. Remove rack support cover using tool MB990607-A.

7. Remove rack support spring, cushion rubber and rack support from gearbox.
ASSEMBLY
1. Place rack at center position, then torque rack support cover to 5-7 ft. lbs. Loosen cover approximately 30-60°, torque to 36-51 ft. lbs.
2. Torque rod to rack bar to 58-72 ft. lbs., then secure tie rod by folding ends of new tab washer into notches in tie rod. Ensure air hole in bellows is
not clogged with grease.
3. Apply suitable lubricant to bellows fitting position of tie rod, then install new attaching band and dust cover.
4. Fill dust cover with a suitable lubricant, then place cover in position with clip ring inserted in groove of tie rod end.

5. Install tie rods until free length of left and right rods are 7.20-7.30 inch.
