Camshaft: Service and Repair
NOTE; When removing camshaft or bearings, it is recommended that the engine be removed from chassis.

Remove lifters and pushrod using tool No. C-4129. Identify lifters to ensure correct position during installation.

Remove timing sprockets, distributor and oil pump.

Remove fuel pump.

Install long bolt into front of camshaft to facilitate removal, then remove camshaft from engine, Fig. 16.

Reverse procedure to install. Whenever new camshaft or lifters have been installed, add one pint of suitable crankcase conditioner to
engine oil to aid lubrication during break-in. Lifters should be inspected for crown using suitable straight edge. If negative crown
(dishing) is observed, lifter should be replaced.
