IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED
Engine compartment wiring harnesses on a limited number of early built subject vehicles contain a four-way connector in the headlamp and dash wiring
circuit that utilizes only three of the connector cavities. The remaining open cavity may allow moisture to enter the connector. This may cause electrical
tracking in the connector, which can affect (O2) sensor operation and result in a driveability complaint of poor idle quality (loping) and hesitation during
engine warm-up.
To prevent this condition, all involved vehicles must be corrected prior to retail delivery by inserting a supplied plastic plug in the open cavity to seal the
connector against moisture entry. If you have already delivered an involved vehicle, please contact and advise your customer to return it as soon as
possible for this corrective service.
Involved vehicles invoiced to you are identified on the enclosed VIN listing.
Service Procedure
1.
Locate the four-way headlamp and dash wiring connector at the rear of the right (passenger side) engine valve cover (see illustration).
2.
Insert a plastic plug (provided with this package -- one per vehicle) into the open cavity at the engine harness end of the connector as shown.
Completion Reporting and Reimbursement
When an affected vehicle has been serviced, submit the claim using the DIAL System (Function 54) or a WRO.
If using a WRO, enter only one VIN per claim. Fill in the labor operation number and time allowance and write on the WRO "Customer Satisfaction
Notification #257T -- Wiring Harness Repair." Do not enter other service repairs on the same WRO.
