Idle Speed Increase Valve: Description and Operation
1984-85 PICKUP W/DIESEL ENGINE
The idle speed increase system consists of a vacuum actuator and a vacuum solenoid valve. The system allows for operation of the air conditioning
unit at idle speed by increasing engine speed as necessary.
When the air conditioning compressor switch is turned on, the solenoid is energized and vacuum from the power brake booster assembly is applied to
the vacuum actuator. This results in the control lever being pulled slightly by the vacuum actuator to increase fuel delivery and engine speed.
