Seals and Gaskets: Service and Repair

1.
Mark parts for reassembly then disconnect propeller shaft at rear universal joint. Carefully pull shaft yoke out of transmission overdrive housing.
Use caution not to scratch or nick ground surface on sliding spline.

Remove oil seal with seal removal tool No. C-3985 or equivalent.
3.
Position seal in opening of overdrive housing and drive it into housing with installation tool No. C-3995 or equivalent.
4.
Carefully guide front universal joint yoke into overdrive housing and on mainshaft splines. Align marks made prior to removal and connect
propeller shaft to rear axle pinion shaft yoke.
