Checking Head For Flatness

INSPECTION

Check cylinder heads for flatness.

CAMSHAFT

1. Check camshaft journals for wear or damage. Replace if necessary. If journals are damaged, also inspect camshaft bearings for wear or damage. If

camshaft bearing is badly worn, replace cylinder head.

2. Check the tooth surface of the distributor drive gear teeth of the camshaft and replace if abnormal wear is evident.
3. Check the cam surface for abnormal wear or damage, and replace if defective.

Camshafts

4. Measure cam height, replacing the cam if out of the limit.

Standard value: Intake side 41.25 mm (1.6240 in.)
Exhaust side 41.25 mm (1.6240 in.)
Limit: 40.75 mm (1.6043 in.)

REASSEMBLY

NOTE:  Reverse the disassembly procedures to reassemble.
