Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1.
Reduce the internal pressure of the fuel pipes and hoses by completing the following operations.
a.
Disconnect the fuel pump harness connector.
b.
Start and run the engine until it stalls, then turn the ignition switch to OFF.
c.
Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
d.
Connect the fuel pump harness connector.
2.
Remove the intake plenum. See: Intake Air Plenum/Service and Repair
3.
Remove the fuel return line from the pressure regulator.
4.
Remove the mounting bolts, then remove the fuel pressure regulator.
INSTALLATION
Fuel Pressure Regulator
1.
When connecting the fuel pressure regulator to the fuel rail, apply light oil or fuel to the O-ring and then insert, being careful not to damage the
O-ring.
2.
After replacement of the fuel delivery pipe and injectors, check for leaks with the system pressurized. (Key in the ON position).
3.
Install the intake plenum. See: Intake Air Plenum/Service and Repair
