On six cylinder units, if distributor housing, or shaft and governor assembly are to be replaced, proceed as follows:
a. If gear is worn or damaged, scribe a line on end of shaft from center to edge, so that line is centered between two gear teeth, Fig. 15. Do not
scribe line completely across shaft. Remove distributor drive gear retaining pin and slide gear off end of shaft. Support hub of gear so that pin
can be driven out without damaging shaft.
b. If necessary, use a file to clean burrs from around pin hole area on shaft, then remove lower thrust washer.
c. Push shaft upward and remove from distributor body.
