Impact Sensor: Service and Repair
FRONT IMPACT SENSOR REPLACE
1. Disarm air bag as outlined under Air Bag System Disarming and Arming.

2. Remove righthand sensor as follows:
a. Remove screws mounting sensor to front wheelhouse extension.
b. Unplug and remove sensor.
c. Do not remove tape holding harness to connector.
3. On all models equipped with 3.9L/V6-238 and 5.2L/V8-318 engine, remove lefthand sensor as follows:
a. Removing rubber air dam to radiator support plastic retainers
b. Through air dam opening remove sensor to wheelhouse extension screws.
c. Unplug and remove sensor.
d. Do not remove tape holding harness to connector.
4. On models equipped with 5.9L/6-359 diesel and 8.0L/V10-488 engine, remove lefthand sensor as follows:
a. Remove battery hold-down, heat shield, battery and tray.
b. Remove screws mounting sensor to wheelhouse extension.
c. Unplug and remove sensor.
d. Do not remove tape holding harness to connector.
5. On all models, reverse procedure to install, ensuring arrow points forward, and tighten screws to specifications.
