Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair

WARNING: THE FUEL SYSTEM IS UNDER A CONSTANT PRESSURE OF APPROXIMATELY 100 kPa (14.5 PSI). BEFORE

SERVICING THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR, THE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE MUST BE RELEASED.

REMOVAL

1.

Remove air cleaner assembly.

2.

Perform fuel system pressure release.

3.

Disconnect negative battery cable at battery.

4.

Remove vacuum hose from throttle body.

5.

Remove screws attaching pressure regulator to throttle body.

WARNING: PLACE A SHOP TOWEL AROUND FUEL INLET OF THE PRESSURE REGULATOR TO ABSORB ANY RESIDUAL FUEL

REMAINING IN THE SYSTEM.

Fuel Pressure Regulator Service

6.

Remove pressure regulator from throttle body.

7.

Carefully remove O-ring from pressure regulator. Remove and discard gasket.

INSTALLATION

1.

Place new gasket on pressure regulator and carefully install new O-ring.

2.

Position pressure regulator on throttle body and press into place. Install mounting screws and tighten to 5 Nm (4O in. lbs.) torque.

3.

Install vacuum hose to throttle body.

4.

Using DRB II diagnostic tester, with the key in the Run position, use Special Functions ASD Fuel System Test. This is done to activate the fuel
pump and pressurize the system. Check for leaks.

5.

Install air cleaner assembly.
