Water-In-Fuel Sensor: Description and Operation
Water-In-Fuel Sensor
The Water-In-Fuel (WIF) sensor is located at the bottom of the fuel/water separator filter. When water is sensed in the fuel, this sensor sends an input
signal to the control module and the control module in turn illuminates the Water-In-Fuel lamp on the instrument panel.
The engine controller looks at the Water-In-Fuel sensors signal under the following conditions:
-
When the key is rotated to the RUN position.
-
At the conclusion of the intake air heater post-heat cycle.
