Electric EGR Transducer: Description and Operation
EGR Solenoid and Transducer
California Emissions
Solenoid Trio
Engine controller controls vacuum to EGR transducer through solenoid by applying or removing solenoid ground.
^
ENERGIZED: no vacuum to EGR transducer.
^
Always ENERGIZED during warm-up, idle, wide open throttle, and rapid deceleration/acceleration.
NOTE: Since vacuum admitted when solenoid deactivated, driveability problems will occur if solenoid is disconnected.
On California vehicles engine controller periodically tests EGR system operation. If a fault is found, a fault code will be set and CHECK ENGINE
light will be illuminated, indicating vehicle service required.
