Timing Belt: Service and Repair
TIMING BELT REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
2. Remove accessory drive belts.
3. Remove air conditioning compressor with lines attached and set aside.
4. Remove the generator.
5. Remove air conditioning compressor belt idler.
Solid Mount Accessory Bracket
6. Remove 5 side mounting bolts; Nos.1, 4, 5, 6 and 7.
7. Remove front mounting nut No.2.
8. Remove front bolt No.3. Coolant will leak from bolt hole. If in vehicle, fully loosen bolt No.3 and remove with assembly.
9. Rotate solid mount bracket away from engine and slide on stud (No.2 nut mounting stud) until free. Front mounting bolt and spacer will be
removed with bracket.
10. If in vehicle, replace front mounting bolt No.3 in WET hole to prevent further coolant loss.
11. Remove the water pump pulley.
12. Remove the crankshaft pulley.
13. Remove nuts holding cover to cylinder head.
14. Remove bolts holding cover to cylinder block.
