1989-990 (AN) Dodge Dakota Convertible Trucks (2WD)
NOTE:
This recall applies only to the above trucks equipped with a convertible top (Sales Code AWM) and a 3.9L engine (Sales Code EHB).
1989 (AN) Dodge Dakota Shelby Trucks (2WD)
NOTE:
This recall applies only to the above trucks equipped with the Shelby conversion package (Sales Code 4ZK).
IMPORTANT:
Some of the involved vehicles may be in dealer used vehicle inventory. Dealers should complete this recall service 0 these vehicles before retail
delivery. Dealers should also perform this recall on vehicles in for service. Involved vehicles can be determined by using the DIAL VIP System.
Subject
The rack and pinion steering gear on about 3,750 of the above trucks may separate from the frame crossmember and cause a loss C: steering control.
This could cause an accident without warning.
Repair
Reinforcement plates must be welded to the frame crossmember at the steering gear attachment locations.
