Turn Signal/Hazard Warning Switch 

Turn Signal/hazard Switch Replacement

Lock plate removal. Models w/tilt column

1. Remove steering wheel. Refer to ``Steering Wheel, Replace'' procedure.
2. Pry off wiring trough from steering column, then disconnect turn signal/hazard warning switch electrical connector.
3. On models equipped with standard column, proceed as follows:

a. Remove wiper/washer switch-to-turn signal switch pivot attaching screw. Leave turn signal lever in its installed position.
b. Remove 3 bearing retainer and turn signal switch-to-upper bearing housing attaching screws.

4. On models equipped with tilt column, proceed as follows:

a. Remove plastic cover, if equipped, from lock plate.
b. Depress lock plate using tool No. C-4156 and pry retaining ring out of groove with a suitable screwdriver. The full load of the upper bearing

spring should not be relieved. If the full load is relieved, the retaining ring will turn too easily and make removal difficult.

c. Remove lock plate, cancelling cam and upper bearing spring, then place turn signal switch in right turn position.
d. Remove screw attaching link between turn signal switch and wiper/washer switch pivot.
e. Remove hazard warning switch knob attaching screw, then the 3 turn signal switch-to-steering column attaching screws.

5. On all models, remove turn signal/hazard warning switch assembly by gently pulling switch up from column while straightening and guiding wires

up through column opening.

6. Reverse procedure to install.
